STI of MIA toughens penalties for drunken driving

Drinking and driving can cost a round sum, namely 10 thousand hryvnia.

Sergei Kolomiets, head of the Department of STI of MIA informed that the SAI has prepared a bill that would tighten the amount of fine for driving under the influence. Now, the fine will be 10 thousand hryvnia.

Also, he said that there is a provision stating that the driver of a vehicle who is drunk can lose rights for up to 3 years.

For comparison: is the penalty for drunken driving is 2550-3400 hryvnia, with the possibility of losing the rights for 1-2 years. Think before you drink a beer or a glass of vodka before you get behind the wheel.
