Russia and Ukraine are included in the list of 25 countries with the largest number of citizens

At the UN headquarters in New York started 41-th session of the UN Commission on Population and Development. In consideration of its members before the report of UN Secretary General on the monitoring of the global demographic situation.

It is reported that in 2008 the first time in history the number of urban dwellers will equal the rural population. By 2050, increase in the number of urban dwellers will be 3.1 billion people in that overall population growth will be 2.5 billion people.

Attention is drawn to the fact that the townspeople live in an area of just three per cent of the land surface, while the rural population accounts for 12 per cent.

In 2007, three quarters of the 3.3 billion urban dwellers on the earth lived in 25 countries worldwide. In this list - Russia and Ukraine. They took it on 6 and 24 seats. In India, China and the U.S. 35 percent of residents live in the world.
