Russia’s largest producer of ammonia - “Togliatti” almost completely stopped production due to problems with transportation via Ukraine, said in a news release. Now five out of seven ammonia plants operating in idle mode, the two - part-load, transfer Volga News.

The bulk of the ammonia produced by the ammonia is transported by Togliatti - Odessa. The Ukrainian part of the ammonia is administered by the state company “Ukrtransammiak” with which “Togliattiazot” a long-term contract. Meanwhile, the December 16 “Ukrtransammiak” without warning, stopped pumping the ammonia produced by the “Togliatti”.

Since mid-December “Ukrtransammiak” has circulated no more than 120 thousand tons of ammonia produced by “Togliatti”.

According to media reports, in the port of Odessa idle tonnage tankers, which arrived in Togliatti ammonia. Losses “TOAZ” because of the actions “Ukrtrasnammiaka” accounted for more than half a billion rubles from JSC “Transammiak” (which controls Russia’s land ammonia) - about 50 million rubles, the Russian budgets at various levels have received less than 100 million rubles. Financial losses of the “Ukrtransammiaka” and the Ukrainian budget “TOAZ” estimated at more than $ 3.2 million

Numerous letters and appeals to the leadership “Ukrtransammiak” to clarify and resolve the situation have gone unanswered. If in the near future transportation of ammonia does not resume, JSC “Togliatti” will be forced to stop operation of the plant, which can cause serious social and environmental impacts.

The bulk of ammonia “TOAZ” exports to North America, Europe and Asia. In 2010 the company produced 2.137 million tonnes of ammonia, of which 1.32 million tonnes were pumped through the pipeline on the Ukrainian quota. In Russia, the company sold 336, 8 thousand tons of ammonia.
