In Ukraine, a year-end disconnect gray mobile phones

Four of the five mobile operators have installed equipment that allows disabled users who use illegal phones, reported yesterday in State center frequencies. According to him, removing illegal phones will begin immediately after the fifth operator to complete the installation of equipment. “The deadline for the installation - December 1, it is possible that the operator handle in the past” - he explained in an interview with Kommersant. Thus, the government intends to combat illegal imports of phones in the country.

Time off subscribers who use illegal phones, postponed several times because of technical unpreparedness operators. In November 2009, operators had to start sending SMS-messages to subscribers with a warning about disabling and 16 February this year to start them off (see Kommersant from March 25, 2009).

The system will work only after the necessary equipment will install all the operators, said a member of the National Commission for Communications Regulation Vladimir Zverev. At Kyivstar, Ukrainian Radio Systems (URS) and Astelit confirmed that it is technically ready to be disabled. “On our side, the technical issues associated with implementing an automated information system, accounting for mobile terminals, resolved, and we are now ready for testing hardware compatibility with our systems of communication” - note in the URS.
